I am a San Luis Obispo County based commercial photographer who specializes in product and advertising imaging. On location or in my studio, I provide high quality imaging and digital delivery of photography for business and artists. I am now celebrating 30 years of professional work. The majority of my clients are based locally on the central coast, but I also maintain great relations with multiple clients located throughout the country. Reproduction quality and color accurate images are my specialty combined with excellent retouching and compositing skills working in Adobe Photoshop.
Three main segments comprise my business model: Helicopter Aerials; Studio and Location Products; and Art and Craft Imaging. Dedication to meeting deadlines and maintaining high quality standards are my hallmarks, allowing me to build long term relationships with my clients based on mutual trust. In a new world where ‘everyone’ is a photographer, good business practice relies on EXPERIENCE, and that is what I offer.
As an art student in college who was always carrying a camera, I kept exploring the more abstract side of nature photography. This was guided in part by the influence of my mother who became a very successful abstract painter. In the years leading up to starting my commercial business I was largely self-taught, devoting myself to studying lighting techniques in order to bring my work to the level of quality needed for advertising and publication in the film generation. This quest allowed me to have some very unique photo assignments early in my career. These assignments included working with the National Science Foundation and National Geographic on an oceanic seabird grant study, several years photographing the PGA Tour for a west coast golf magazine, and having sport action photos being published in Surfers Journal, Surfer Magazine and Alliance Wakeboard Magazine.
I am now dedicated primarily to advertising. However I greatly enjoy photographing nature and unusual subjects that lean toward artistic series. I maintain a robust catalog of photos that are licensed and sold for editorial use.
